A Breton Woman and a Standing Man; Head and Hand of a Monkey [recto]

Paul Gauguin

National Gallery of Art

The image features two separate sketches. On the left side, there is a full-body drawing of a person turned slightly away, wearing a long skirt, a shawl or cloak, and a hat or bonnet. The second figure in the background is a roughly sketched person standing in profile. On the right side, there is a colored sketch of a monkey's head, which appears to be resting on something. Below the monkey's head is another small sketch. The background of both panels is plain.
