Alexandre-Charles Monod, 1843-1921, Surgeon at L'Hôpital de St-Antoine [obverse]
The sculpture is a bas-relief of a bearded man in profile, with sharp facial features and neatly combed hair. The man is depicted in a suit jacket, with a dignified expression. The relief is made of material giving it a bronze hue and a metallic sheen. Engraved text around the figure includes "A CHARLES MONOD" at the top, along with French inscriptions on the left side acknowledging him as a surgeon associated with l'Hôpital Saint-Antoine from 1886–1906, followed by "SES ELEVES SES AMIS."
