The Miracle of Saint Mark (left side)

John Baptist Jackson after Jacopo Tintoretto

National Gallery of Art

This is a drawing of multiple figures in various poses surrounding a central column. Some individuals are gesturing upward towards a figure in the top right corner with a bright halo or light behind them. Other characters are clustered around a person lying prostrate in the bottom center. Several figures are leaning from an architectural balcony, observing the scene below. Shadows and highlights are used to add depth to the scene. Line work and shading give texture to the interactions among the figures and architectural elements.
