Ruins of the Church of Santo Domingo-Panama

Eadweard Muybridge

National Gallery of Art

This is a photograph of a large, ruined structure with arched openings and damaged walls. The photograph depicts the interior of an old, decaying building with brick construction. The walls are weathered and show signs of deterioration with plants growing around the base and up through the masonry. Inside, there are stacks of lumber and wooden beams propped against the walls. The top part of the structure has open holes and an absent roof. The scene is framed by an enormous arched entrance in the foreground and another at the far end.
