The Three Ages of Man

Timothy Cole

National Gallery of Art

There are three figures in the image. From left to right, the first figure is an older man with a bald head and a notable nose, facing right. Next to him is a young woman with dark shoulder-length hair and a hat, facing forward with her eyes downcast. The third figure is a young man with shoulder-length hair and a beard, facing left and gesturing with his right hand. They are dressed in dark, historical-style clothing, with the woman in a hat. The background is dark, contrasting with the light paper surrounding the image. Below the image, there is text stating it is a proof print engraved by Timothy Cole in 1890 and manually pressed. There are signatures below the figures and to the right, possibly of the engraver.
