Peaches, Grapes, and Apples

Severin Roesen

National Gallery of Art

This painting shows a collection of ripe peaches and clusters of grapes arranged on a table. The peaches have hues of orange, pink, and yellow, while the grapes are dark purple and light green. Several peaches are stacked closely together in the center, with the grapes on top of them and around them. A thin stick with green leaves rests on top of the stacked peaches. The table they lie on appears to be a dark red-and-gray marbled surface, with a white cloth edged in gold draped over the right side. The wall behind the fruit is a gradient, with brown on the left side fading into pale orange on the right side.
