Acer rufinerve

Karl Blossfeldt

National Gallery of Art

The image depicts a close-up of a plant stem with two large, open pods positioned symmetrically on either side of the stem. These pods reveal round seeds inside. The photograph is in black and white, with various shades of gray giving depth and texture to the objects. The stem runs vertically through the center of the image, while the pods are attached slightly above its middle, curving outward and then upwards. The seeds are clustered closely within the pods, remaining predominantly dark against the lighter fibers that surround them.
