Tetradrachm: Quadriga (obverse); Head of Arethousa (reverse)

Cleveland Museum of Art

The coin on the left side has an image of a quadriga, a four-horse chariot. Four horses are shown in profile view, facing to the right; the horses are depicted in a line; they have long tails; their legs are rendered in a stylized fashion with minimal detail. The coin on the right side features a female head facing right; she has curly hair; she wears earrings and a necklace; some letters are visible behind her head. Both coins are circular and made of metal; they appear to be old and worn. The background of the image is a light gray color.
