Mirror with Pair of Birds in Chrysanthemum Pattern

Cleveland Museum of Art

The Mirror with Pair of Birds in Chrysanthemum Pattern is round and made of black material, likely metal. The circular object has a raised outer rim with small notches around its edge. Inside the rim are two raised concentric circles. The inner circle features a raised pattern of radiating lines. The center contains a raised design with a pair of birds positioned near the top, surrounded by a floral pattern of raised chrysanthemums. One of the birds faces left and the other right. The birds are positioned among eight chrysanthemums; four larger chrysanthemums are positioned in a square around the birds, and four smaller chrysanthemums are positioned between the larger ones. There is an orange tassel attached to the bottom of the raised design between the birds. The tassel is made of thick, twisted cord. The background of the image is dark gray.
