Vase

Cleveland Museum of Art

The Vase by Pu Ru is a Chinese carved agate vessel. The vase has a rounded base that tapers in toward the middle then widens toward the mouth. The base has a curved carved design resembling a wave or a dragon. Two curved handles protrude from either side near the top. The lid has a carved finial on top and appears to be made from the same agate material. The agate features a predominantly light-gray and beige coloration with yellow and pink inclusions and veining throughout. The background of the image transitions from dark gray at the top to light gray at the bottom.
