Katsushika Taito II

Cleveland Museum of Art

The image depicts a Japanese-style woodblock print titled "The Monkey Bridge". A large gray cliff dominates the right side, with a curved bridge spanning from the left side to the top of the cliff on the right. The bridge has railings on both sides and appears to be made of wood. Several trees grow on both sides of the cliff and bridge. On the right side of the cliff, there are several buildings with reddish-brown roofs. On the left side of the bridge, there is a body of water with several boats. The water is blue and calm. In the background, the moon is visible in a blue sky with white clouds near the horizon. There is a red seal or stamp on the right side of the image, featuring Japanese characters in white. Additional Japanese characters are written vertically on the right side of the image.
