Design for Decorative Hinges (recto) Border Lines (verso)

Luzio Romano

Cleveland Museum of Art

The image shows two pieces of paper side by side. The left paper has a light-brown color with darker brown spots and a white border around it. On this paper, there are two sketches of ornate designs for decorative hinges. The top design features a rounded rectangle with a dome shape inside, surrounded by swirling lines and shapes, including what appears to be a man and a lion. The bottom design is similar but has a square in the center instead of a dome, and it is surrounded by cherubs and other decorative elements. The right paper is mostly blank, with a large light-brown rectangle in the center. There is a small circular stamp in the bottom-right corner and some handwritten text that reads "Luzio". The background of the image is white.
