Matsumoto Koshiro IV as a Townsman Standing Beside a Water Barrel

Torii Kiyomitsu

Cleveland Museum of Art

A man in traditional Japanese clothing stands beside a water barrel. He wears a red and yellow checkered robe over a white robe with beige and gray stripes. A round emblem with a white background and a black flower-like pattern is on the right side of the robe. His hair is styled in a traditional Japanese topknot. He wears a sword at his side. The man has a neutral expression on his face. The water barrel is partially visible behind him on the left. A pink banner with black Japanese characters is behind and above the barrel. The background is a plain beige color with some darker spots and marks. Vertical black Japanese characters are on the bottom right.
