The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The image depicts a man dressed in traditional Japanese attire. He wears a long, flowing robe with a predominantly brown and cream color scheme and a distinctive red sash around his waist. The robe features a pattern of red designs on the sleeves and lower sections. He has a hairstyle with a small topknot and wears a purple haori coat over his robe. The man holds a sword in his right hand and a short weapon in his left hand. His facial expression appears stern. The background consists of a beige wall with a brown baseboard and a slanted roof or ceiling with multiple panels. There are some Japanese characters written vertically on the right side of the image. The floor is a light brown color.
