Tulwar sword

Cleveland Museum of Art

Tulwar sword by featured, curved single-edged blade with a gently convex edge and a distinctive "yoke" shaped hilt. The blade, approximately 30 inches long and 1.5 inches wide, tapers smoothly to a point and displays areas of pitting and scattered spots of rust. A gold and silver inlaid pattern, possibly featuring foliage or scrollwork, along a short section near the hilt. The hilt consists of a dark brown or black grip wrapped with a textured gold or brass wire binding, leading to a flared pommel; a prominent curved knuckle guard. A scabbard covered in dark red velvet or leather with two horizontal gold bands near the top and a small gold piece near the tip; finished with a thin cord or leather binding wrapping. The background transitions from black at the top to light grey at the bottom.
