Needlepoint (Cutwork) Lace Edging

Cleveland Museum of Art

White, intricately designed lace edging with repeating pattern. The lace is long and rectangular, wider at the top than at the bottom. The top edge has four distinct, symmetrical points. Each point features a leaf-like design with a stem and two side branches on either side. The main body of the lace consists of repeating sections with floral and leaf patterns. The design includes squares with leaf and flower motifs and small circles. The lace is set against a solid black background. The lace appears to be an example of needlepoint or cutwork lace.
