Cassone
Dark brown wooden chest with a flat top and ornate, carved decoration, rectangular in shape with slightly curved feet. The front features two large oval panels with relief carvings surrounded by scrollwork. The left oval panel depicts a scene with multiple figures; the right oval panel shows a scene with one prominent figure. On either side of the oval panels are rectangular panels with carved human faces. The chest has a decorative border around the top and bottom, with a row of small, carved shapes along the top edge; a larger, more intricate design along the bottom edge. The chest, Cassone, by the artist, appears worn with areas of gold paint showing through.
