The standing woman wears a kimono with large phoenix-like birds in green and gold on a white background and an orange shawl; her hair is pulled back with a decorative stick. The kneeling woman has a fan in her right hand and a dish in her left. Both women wear head adornments with sticks. The standing woman looks down; the kneeling woman looks up. The background is tan with vertical Japanese text on the left, right and top.
