

Sampler
Tan fabric with a needlework alphabet sampler. The sampler has a large central rectangle containing rows of embroidered letters in various colors, numbers and a poem. The poem reads: "When God did the Starry display Let every creature from that Pole Loud as his roll that on Earth ample The grow Fowls below Moon and Stars with The vocal of net Sin Martha Kane Universal 1803 Virtues and when you find the the Persue firmness certain and disdain to Stray bliss each of what Virtue in Vice in". There are decorative borders around the central rectangle including flowers, leaves, potted plants and vases. The corners have crisscross patterns. There are 19 small potted plants and 2 vases along the bottom edge of the rectangle. The border on all four sides has green leaves and vines with flowers.
