Architecture of the Middle Ages: Screen in St. Jacques, Dieppe

Joseph Nash

Cleveland Museum of Art

Black and white drawing of the interior of a church. A highly ornamental stone screen fills most of the image. The screen has a large central archway and is decorated with rows of figures and intricate carvings. Two people in period clothing stand on either side of the archway. A woman with long hair and a long dress stands to the right. A man with long hair and a long cloak with a staff in one hand and a hat on the ground beside him stands on the left. A third person stands in the background to the left. The ceiling has vaulted arches. A window with leaded panes is on the right. A pew or altar is at the bottom right.
