Mirror Support: Siren

Cleveland Museum of Art

The sculpture "Mirror Support: Siren" by an unknown artist depicts a winged female figure. The figure has a long, straight face with a small nose and mouth. She wears a headband and has long hair on either side of her face. Her arms are outstretched and are formed into wings which protrude from her upper back. She has a short skirt or tunic with a floral design on the base. Above her head is a triangular piece of metal with an uneven top. Emerging from her upper back and shoulders are two metal bars that curve outward and are adorned with baluster-like decorations. The base has two more curved bars that meet at a floral design. The entire sculpture is made of a dark-colored metal with a weathered appearance. The background is a gradient of gray, with the sculpture casting a shadow on the surface below.
