Radha's Hair Being Dressed

Cleveland Museum of Art

The image depicts a drawing of a scene titled "Radha's Hair Being Dressed". The drawing is oval shaped and on aged, brown paper with chipped edges. The scene shows a woman reclining on the floor, looking down at an image on a board held by another woman on her right; a third woman stands on the left, holding hair ornaments. The reclining woman's hair cascades down her back and over her shoulder, the woman on the left appears to be putting something in the hair. The reclining woman wears a headband and a garment over her left shoulder. The woman on her right wears a sari. The woman on the left wears a sari and holds a tray with a bowl on it with her right hand. Behind them, several women stand in a row to the left; one holds a mirror. Above the oval scene, another sketch depicts a scene with a building and people outdoors. The image contains some red sketch lines and some writing on the bottom left. The drawing style suggests it could be a traditional Indian artwork by the artist Nainsukh.
