Bust of Buddha

Cleveland Museum of Art

Bust of Buddha by unknown artist. The sculpture is a weathered, aged bronze or stone bust of a person with their eyes closed. The head and shoulders are present, with the top of the bust broken off on the left side. The figure has tightly curled hair that forms a tall, rounded shape on top of the head. Two long, hanging earlobes are visible on either side of the head. The figure's facial features include thin eyebrows, a small nose, and lips that are slightly parted. The surface of the sculpture is worn and has visible signs of aging, such as cracks and discoloration. The background of the image fades from dark gray at the top to light gray at the bottom. The sculpture sits on a black stand.
