Legend of Alfred III, King of Mercia
The Legend of Alfred III, King of Mercia. An oval-shaped, bronze relief plaque with a dark patina and gold-colored highlights. The plaque features four figures, including one on the ground and three standing. The figure on the ground is on the lower left and wearing a loincloth. The three standing figures have long hair; the two on the left are holding objects, one a covered bowl. The figure on the right appears to have a headdress or crown; their face is partially obscured. The standing figure in the center has a long dress and a necklace. The background behind the plaque fades from black at the top to gray at the bottom. Small circular holes are on the outer edge. The object appears to be an antique piece with significant texture and wear.
