Album with Views of Rome and Surroundings, Landscape Studies, page 47a: " Torre del Nero, Rome"

Franz Johann Heinrich Nadorp

Cleveland Museum of Art

Sepia-toned pencil sketch on aged paper of a landscape with buildings. The sketch depicts a large tower-like structure with four columns on top in the center of the image. The tower is surrounded by various buildings of different sizes. A tree is visible to the left of the tower. The buildings vary in size and have flat or sloping roofs. There are several other structures in the background. The sky above is lightly sketched with pencil. The paper has a worn and aged appearance with visible edges and a darker area along the right side where a binding appears to be. The bottom of the sketch has an inscription in cursive.
