Pair of Dolls

Cleveland Museum of Art

Pair of Dolls by unknown artist. Two small, antique, wooden dolls with painted details. Dolls have a similar appearance with a few notable differences. Both have a light-brown body with black, red, and white painted details. Both have a simple face with closed eyes, small nose, and small mouth. The doll on the left has a tall, black and brown headdress. The doll on the right has a similar headdress but with a more pointed top and horizontal black stripes. The doll on the left has its arms bent at the elbow and positioned at the sides of its chest. The doll on the right has similar positioning but with palms facing upwards. The dolls have a thick waistband, with the doll on the left having a thicker, red line around its waist. The dolls have a few black, diagonal lines painted on the body. The background is dark at the top and light gray at the bottom.
