The Assembly of Tejaprabha Buddha

Cleveland Museum of Art

The Assembly of Tejaprabha Buddha by an unknown artist depicts a central figure of Tejaprabha Buddha seated on a throne. Tejaprabha Buddha sits cross-legged on a low platform. He wears a green robe with red and blue details. He sits in front of a golden sun or moon symbol. A green halo surrounds his head. The Buddha's right hand is raised near his chest, and his left hand rests on his lap. The central figure is surrounded by an assembly of smaller figures. Two rows of figures on either side of Tejaprabha are dressed in green and red robes. They wear green headpieces and have their hands clasped in prayer. The bottom center features an animal head with blue eyes and an open mouth. A group of smaller figures stand before Tejaprabha. Some hold ritual objects. A group of people wearing robes sits in the top left corner. The bottom of the painting features a block of red text. The background includes blue waves with white clouds at the top. The entire painting is bordered with dark red and gold.
