Egypt and Nubia, Volume I: Frontispiece

Louis Haghe

Cleveland Museum of Art

The image depicts a sepia-toned illustration of an ancient Egyptian temple. The top of the image features the title "Egypt & Nubia" in a curved line. Below the title, there are several lines of text, but they are not legible. The main focus of the image is a large stone carving of a man with a large headpiece. He is flanked by two smaller carvings of people with headpieces on either side. The carvings are on a raised platform; people are sitting on it and on the ground in front. The platform is decorated with intricate carvings. The background of the image fades to a plain beige color. The bottom of the image features more small, illegible text. The image has a white border around it.
