Cleveland Museum of Art

Mask, wan-balinga, by an unknown artist. The mask has a round face with a protruding nose and mouth area. Two small holes serve as the eyes. The face is primarily painted in shades of brown and white. A triangular section of the face is painted black. Geometric patterns of lines and triangles in brown and white adorn the face. A curved crest rises from the top of the mask. The crest and edges of the face have a pattern of triangles painted in shades of brown and white. A brown border with holes surrounds the right side and back of the mask. The mask appears to be made of wood.
