The sword he holds up in his right hand has a curved hilt and a long straight blade. He holds a cloth draped over his left shoulder with his left hand. His left elbow rests on a wooden block. The man sits in front of an archway through which two people are seen, and to the right of the archway is a tower or castle wall. There is a decorative flourish to the right of the man's right arm.
