Basin

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Basin by unknown artist. Oval shaped basin with scalloped edges. Interior of basin features a harbor scene with a large ship and a smaller vessel. The ship has three masts and a banner reading "Washington Independence". Two people are standing on the shore. The rim of the basin has a floral pattern. The basin appears to be made of metal, possibly silver. The basin is supported by three small rectangular pieces, likely to prevent it from toppling over. The background of the image is plain white.
