The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Bookcase by Charles Rennie Mackintosh: A large, two-part wooden bookcase with a light-brown wood finish. The top section has three rectangular openings with decorative, fleur-de-lis-style carvings at the top and vertical grooves on the sides. A carved, scroll-like design runs along the top edge. The bottom section has two large, rectangular doors with ornate, curved carvings on the front. The carvings on the doors are made up of interconnected, four-lobed shapes. The bookcase has a flat top and a decorative base with a small lip around the bottom edge. The bookcase stands on a white background.
