Candlestick

Barlow

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Two candlesticks with a dark gray or black color. Made of metal, possibly silver or pewter. The candlesticks have a wide base that tapers upward. The base is circular and flat. A short, curved section connects to a long, thin, ornate stem with multiple sections. The stem narrows and then widens slightly before tapering to a small, cylindrical section. A small lever or handle is on the side. The top section flares out slightly, forming a small dish-shaped area. The candlesticks are identical and symmetrical. They are placed side by side. The background is light grey.
