Side chair

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Wooden chair with a flat, square seat upholstered in light-colored fabric. The chair has a high back with curved, slender side posts that broaden to form a decorative crest rail with a concave center. The chair frame appears to be made of a dark wood and features carved floral designs on the top of the back legs and on the lower portion of the back post between the legs. The front legs are curved with a bulbous end and a subtle claw shape. The chair is angled to the right.
