Cup and Saucer

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

White saucer with a floral design and gold trim. The saucer is round and shallow. A large crest in orange, blue, black, white and red is in the center; the crest includes a shield with three black stars on a white background above a black band, a cross on top of the shield, and a bird on top of the cross; the shield is surrounded by a frame with scrollwork design on the bottom and floral elements on the sides. There are two concentric circles around the crest, both with a gold rope design. There are four groups of multicolored flowers around the rim. The saucer has a flat bottom. The cup is not pictured, but based on the title, there should be a matching cup. The saucer is by the artist known as Cup and Saucer.
