Medal of Governor I. Shelby of Kentucky

Moritz Fürst

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Brown medal with a raised profile portrait of a man. The man has short curly hair, with the curls extending to the back of his neck. A braid extends from behind his ear, over his shoulder and across his chest on the left. The top of his military-style jacket is visible. The jacket features epaulets on the shoulder and braided trim on the collar. The words "GOVERNOR" and "ISAAC SHELBY" are raised on the medal's surface, on either side of the portrait, from top center and curving toward the bottom. A name, "FURST", appears at the bottom edge. The circular medal has a recessed outer border.
