Whale Oil Lamp

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Whale Oil Lamp by an unknown artist shows a glass lamp with a wide base and a narrow top. The base is square-shaped with rounded corners and has a ribbed design around its edges. A short, thick stem connects the base to the main body of the lamp. The main body of the lamp is shaped like an upside-down funnel. The top of the lamp is narrower than the rest and has a black metal piece with two small tubes protruding from it. The background of the image is plain white.
