Pier glass

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Rectangular mirror with a frame. Top of the frame has a central ornament with an eagle or bird with spread wings. Two small, thin, tapered posts on either side extend vertically from the frame's top edge. A string of beads hangs between the posts. Below the posts and string, a rectangular panel contains an etched image of a boat on water. The mirror's large, empty reflective surface occupies most of the frame's area. "Pier glass" by artist.
