Quillwork Sconce

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Quillwork Sconce by an unknown artist features a rectangular frame with a decorative top, adorned with a scalloped edge. The frame is dark-colored and has a raised border around the perimeter. Inside the frame, there are numerous flowers and foliage densely arranged. The flowers and foliage appear to be made of quillwork, a type of decorative art made from bird quills. Two candle holders are attached to the bottom of the frame, one on each side, with a pointed metal piece extending downwards from each. The background of the image is plain and light-colored.
