Sconce

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Two identical sconces, titled "Sconce" by an unknown artist. The sconces are symmetrical, with a leafy design at the bottom that tapers into a decorative bundle of wheat, flowers, and fruit at the top. Two candle holders extend out on either side, each with a curved stem and a flared base. The sconces are made of metal, likely silver or another reflective material, and have a ornate, Baroque-inspired design. Each sconce has a small number below it, one with 79 and the other with 80. The background of the image is a plain white surface, providing a neutral backdrop for the sconces.
