Notepaper Holder

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Notepaper Holder by artist Eric Gill features three Gothic-style notepaper holders. The leftmost holder is short, wide and made of brass-colored metal; it has a flat base with four small feet and is decorated with a Gothic-arched design featuring crosses along the top and the sides. The central holder is tall and made of black metal; it tapers upwards and ends in a point. The rightmost holder is made of black metal, wide and multi-levelled; from top to bottom, it features a figurine surrounded by statues; several columns; and statues standing on the base. All three holders are intricately carved with patterns and designs. The background of the image features a purple-to-white gradient.
