The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The quilt is square. The quilt has a border with black and white diagonal stripes. The main body of the quilt has eight rows of twelve blocks. The quilt is made in a log cabin pattern, specifically the straight furrow variation. Each block has a pink square in the center. The blocks alternate in color, some with light background and dark diagonal strips, and some with dark background and light diagonal strips. The light background is made of beige and tan fabrics with small patterns. The dark diagonal strips are made of solid black fabric. The pink squares are outlined with tan and orange fabrics. The blocks are arranged so that the dark and light backgrounds alternate. The quilt has a thin red border around the edge.
