Storm King, 1871 (from Sketchbook)

Daniel Huntington

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The image shows a sketch of a landscape with a body of water and trees. The sketch is drawn in pencil on two pages that are side by side. The left side of the sketch shows a body of water with a horizon line and some scribbled lines representing land or hills in the distance. The right side of the sketch shows some scribbled lines representing trees or foliage. There is handwritten text at the bottom of both pages. The text on the left page is difficult to read but appears to be a date and some notes. The text on the right page reads "will add cliffs to fiord and boulders for new canvas hence Aug/27". The background of the sketch is a light gray color.
