Hercules and Antoneus; Fall of Phaetor (Icarus?); Classical Architecture; Sacrifice of Isaac [?] (after Rembrandt?) (from Sketchbook)

Thomas Sully

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The image depicts a sketch with four distinct scenes. On the left, a figure appears to be falling or being thrown down. In the center, a muscular man wearing a loincloth and possibly a helmet or headband is shown in a dynamic pose. The man is leaning forward with his knees bent and arms out, moving towards the right. To the right of the central figure, a columned structure resembling a classical temple or building is drawn. On the far left, another figure is seen falling from a height, with their legs and arms splayed out as if in mid-air. A possible architectural detail is visible on the right edge.
