Breastplate (<i>Kastenbrust</i>)

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Silver-colored breastplate, Kastenbrust, by an unknown artist. The breastplate is made of metal and has a ribbed design. It is shaped to fit the torso, with a curved bottom edge and a scalloped top edge. The arm holes are visible on either side. The breastplate appears to be made of a single piece of metal with a vertical seam down the center and rivets along the edges. The surface shows signs of wear and aging, with darker spots and discoloration visible.
