Vajracarya Priest's Crown

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Vajracarya Priest's Crown by an unknown artist features a dark brown metal helmet with gold accents. The helmet has a domed shape and a small finial on top. Six oval-shaped gold medallions adorn the helmet, each containing a seated figure. The medallions are surrounded by ornate gold filigree. A gold band runs along the bottom edge of the helmet. Two curved pieces of gold metal hang from either side of the helmet, resembling cheek guards. The background of the image is a solid gray color.
