Helmet and Arm Guards

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Helmet and Arm Guards by an unknown artist. The helmet is made of metal and has a rounded top with a pointed spike on top. Two curved metal pieces extend from the top on either side. The top of the helmet has engraved designs. A gold band encircles the helmet below the designs. A metal piece with a flower-like design hangs from the right side. The face area is covered with a mesh material that hangs down in a curtain-like fashion. Two straps extend from under the chin area and cross over. They end in tassels.
