Sword-Hilt Collar and Pommel (Fuchigashira)

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Dark brown metal sword hilt collar and pommel, oval and rectangular in shape. The oval pommel is on top, the rectangular collar is on the bottom. Both pieces have a similar design, featuring intricate, swirling patterns that resemble vines or tendrils. The patterns are raised and have a darker, bluish tint compared to the rest of the metal. Small dots are scattered throughout the design. The background is light gray, with a subtle shadow visible beneath the pieces.
