Powder Flask

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Powder Flask by Unknown Artist. The image shows a curved, antique brass powder flask. The flask is shaped like a horn with a narrow cylindrical spout at one end and a wider, curved body that tapers to a flat edge at the other. The body of the flask is decorated with intricate engravings, including geometric patterns, floral motifs, and possibly some text. A braided yellow cord with two red tassels is threaded through a small loop on the top of the flask, allowing it to be worn around the neck. The flask is lying on its side on a plain white background.
