Pair of Sword-Grip Ornaments (Menuki)

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Two identical sets of gold-colored metal ornaments, each set consisting of four snowflake-like shapes connected side-by-side, on a gray background. The shapes in each set are symmetrical, with two on either side of a central point. Each shape has a central circle with six pointed sections radiating outward, resembling a snowflake or flower. The ornaments have a raised design and appear to be made of metal, possibly gold or brass. A white border is on the right side.
